Attention Cleveland: Here come the Twins

Nine months ago, the Twins, mired in a mid-season slump, traded pitcher Jaime Garcia in exchange for prospects, a move that many regarded as a sign that Falvey & Co. wanted to build for the future, rather than win now. Despite the move, the Twins finished strong down the stretch and secured their first post-season... Continue Reading »

Finally, some offseason pitching momentum for the Twins

Yu Darvish is a Cub, Jaime Garcia a Brewer and up until Saturday night, it appeared the consolation prize for the Twins was none other than Anibal Sanchez, formerly of the Detroit Tigers. Sanchez recently agreed to a deal that will pay him $2.5 million if he can make the team out of spring training.... Continue Reading »

What do the Twins do now?

Despite winning 16 games last season, Ervin Santana has a way of disappointing Twins fans. When he first joined the team as a free agent, he tested positive for performance enhancing drugs and was suspended for the first half of what would become a disastrous, 103-loss 2016 season. And now the Twins have announced that... Continue Reading »

What do you think of Jaime Garcia now?

Back in July, the Twins’ Falvey & Co. traded a prospect to get starting pitcher Jaime Garcia from the Atlanta Braves, a move that appeared to make sense for a stretch run. But just as quickly he was gone after Falvey & Co. decided to trade him to the New York Yankees for more pitching... Continue Reading »

A win, at last

It’s not even Thursday as I write this and yet it has been a long week for the Minnesota Twins. The team has struggled of late, management changed course dramatically on Sunday and Monday, and the Twins showed up punchless on Tuesday and lost 3-0 to the lowly San Diego Padres.  To make matters worse,... There goes the Twins’ season, folks. So say Falvey & Co.

It appears the Twins’ Falvey & Co. — Chief Baseball Officer Derek Falvey, General Manager Thad Levine and Assistant GM Rob Antony — have decided to not go all in on the remainder of the season after they traded left-handed starter Jaime Garcia to the New York Yankees on Sunday. Garcia made one start for... Continue Reading »

That was hard — as predicted

The Twins avoided being swept by the Astros, Yankees and Tigers, but nothing went right for the Twins versus the Los Angeles Dodgers, including Wednesday’s loss, in which the Twins raced out to a 5-0 lead, only to lose the game 6-5. Against the Twins, the Dodgers picked up wins 69, 70 and 71. The... Continue Reading »

Hi, I’m Rolf Boone and I love the Twins.

I became a fan of the Minnesota Twins after a friendly wager in the early 1980s. I survived Ron Davis, the meltdown in Cleveland, Phil Bradley at the Kingdome and then marveled at a rising generation of stars and two World Series wins in 1987 and 1991. Brad Radke made the 1990s bearable, while Kirby Puckett’s eye injury, exit from the game and eventual death made it almost too much to bear. The new century ushered in more talent — Joe Mauer, Johan Santana, Joe Nathan, Torii Hunter, Justin Morneau — and consecutive seasons of playoff baseball, followed by consecutive seasons of losing baseball. A winning season returned in 2015. So here we are. Go Twins.
