Twins win 8-0, split series with Halos

With nothing at stake, the Twins pulled off a convincing win on Sunday by beating the Los Angeles Angels, 8-0, to earn a split of the four-game series. The Halos walked-off the Twins twice while Minnesota shut out the California club twice. It should’ve been a sweep, given that the Angels are the worst team... Continue Reading »

It’s about time the Twins’ Roden had a good game

Twins outfielder Alan Roden came into Wednesday’s rubber match with the Baltimore Orioles hitting .192, and I was about to start calling for his head if he had another poor showing at the plate. But those calls have been put on hold after Roden went 3-for-3 with two doubles, a run scored, an RBI and... Continue Reading »

Twins trade shutouts with A’s

After the worst loss of the season on Friday, an anemic, two-hit effort against the West Sacramento A’s (or whatever you want to call them) — a team that has allowed an AL-worst 582 runs — the Twins bounced back with a 2-0 shutout win of their own on Saturday. Although the Twins now have... Continue Reading »

Not ‘sellers’ yet as Twins split series with Guards

The Twins survived a dominant performance from Cleveland Guardians pitcher Gavin Williams, then scored three runs off one of the league’s best bullpens to edge the Guards in a classic Minnesota/Cleveland nail-biter 3-1 in 12 innings on Thursday. The win earned the Twins a split of the four-game series with Cleveland. It wasn’t a sweep... Continue Reading »

Twins win again. Can they do it?

The Twins won again on Tuesday, getting a 3-1 victory at home over the never-easy-to-beat Cleveland Guardians. That’s three wins in a row for Minnesota. They also are 7-3 in their last three games, two games under .500, three games back in the AL Central division and 1.5 games back in the Wild Card hunt.... Continue Reading »

There it is: Twins’ Mick Abel allows first earned runs this spring

Portland, Oregon’s Mick Abel, who hadn’t allowed an earned run coming into Friday’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays, finally got touched up in the 6-1 loss to the Jays. Still, Abel, a former first-round pick of the Philadelphia Phillies who came to Minnesota last season in exchange for closer Jhoan Duran, has pitched well... Continue Reading »

Twins blast Yankees. No matter the season, I’ll take it

I don’t care if it’s a pick-up game, a softball game, or some kind of private exhibition at either Yankee Stadium or Target Field. Anytime the Twins can run up the score on the New York Yankees is cause for celebration. So break out the party hats and funny whistles because on Thursday the Twins... Continue Reading »

We have a pitching problem, Minnesota

I will not read too much into spring training, I will not read too much into spring training, I will not… you know what? Never mind. This team wasn’t very good in 2024, less so in 2025 and now here comes the new season and so far I am equally unimpressed with this team as... Continue Reading »

Whaddya know? That’s 2 Twins wins

The Twins won the finale over the Cleveland Guardians and they did it again Tuesday with a 4-1 win on the road against the Texas Rangers. Starting pitching Daniel Zebulon Matthews bounced back in a huge way after he had a terrible outing against the New York Yankees. Zebby allowed just a run, a first-inning... Continue Reading »

Hi, I’m Rolf Boone, Twins fan.

I became a fan of the Minnesota Twins after a friendly wager in the early 1980s. I survived Ron Davis, the meltdown in Cleveland, Phil Bradley at the Kingdome and then marveled at a rising generation of stars and two World Series wins in 1987 and 1991. Brad Radke made the 1990s bearable, while Kirby Puckett’s eye injury, exit from the game and eventual death made it almost too much to bear. The new century ushered in more talent — Joe Mauer, Johan Santana, Joe Nathan, Torii Hunter, Justin Morneau — and consecutive seasons of playoff baseball, followed by consecutive seasons of losing baseball. A winning season returned in 2015. So here we are. Go Twins.
