Twins end 2026 season on winning note. Now what?

The Twins won their final series of the 2026 season over the Texas Rangers, including a 6-4 win on Sunday. The Twins wrap things up with a 77-85 record, good enough for third place in the American League Central. Was it a good season? In many ways, yes. After the Twins traded away all of... Twins win 8-0, split series with Halos

With nothing at stake, the Twins pulled off a convincing win on Sunday by beating the Los Angeles Angels, 8-0, to earn a split of the four-game series. The Halos walked-off the Twins twice while Minnesota shut out the California club twice. It should’ve been a sweep, given that the Angels are the worst team... Continue Reading »

This Twins season can’t end soon enough

What a disappointment the 2026 Minnesota Twins season has been. The Twins on Thursday fell to 15-27 since July after they lost 5-4 in extra innings to the Los Angeles Angels in Game 1 of a new but likely disappointing series. Starter Taj Bradley served up three quick runs, but the Twins rallied with three... Continue Reading »

Twins’ Matthews perfect in August with 5-1 win over Chisox

The Twins avoided being swept at home on Sunday, getting eight-plus strong innings from starter Daniel Zebulon Matthews to beat the Chicago White Sox 5-1. It was a good win for Matthews, and he finishes August with an unblemished 5-0 record, but overall it was a hugely disappointing series because the Twins did little to... Continue Reading »

You know what the Twins need? Byron Buxton

It’s pretty simple, really: The Twins have a winning record with Byron Buxton in the lineup and a losing one without him, which explains why the club dropped its third straight series on Sunday, losing 4-3 to the Milwaukee Brewers and flame-throwing righty Jake Misiorowski, a pitcher who regularly throws at 100 miles per hour... Remember the Twins’ walk-off win?

All the hope and joy created by Tuesday’s walk-off win over the Kansas City Royals vanished faster than you can say Royce Lewis after Byron Buxton landed on the injured list, Joe Ryan turned in another crummy start and worst of all, former Twins pitcher Randy Dobnak — the Dobber — who toiled for a... Twins routed again 13-4. ‘Make it make sense’

Perhaps Glen Perkins, a former Twins relief pitcher who was in the radio booth on Monday with broadcast partner Kris Atteberry, put it best as he tried to wrap his head around what was happening to the Twins in their Game 1 tilt against the Cleveland Guardians. “Make it make sense,” said Perkins on a... Twins win again. Can they do it?

The Twins won again on Tuesday, getting a 3-1 victory at home over the never-easy-to-beat Cleveland Guardians. That’s three wins in a row for Minnesota. They also are 7-3 in their last three games, two games under .500, three games back in the AL Central division and 1.5 games back in the Wild Card hunt.... Continue Reading »

Playing the Los Angeles Dodgers is stupid

Is there any point in playing the big-money, big-talent, big-everything Los Angeles Dodgers when the outcome seems preordained? I imagine a lot of mid-market major league teams feel this way, and no doubt the Twins are among them after they returned home and lost by a run on Monday and then were blown out by... Hi, I’m Rolf Boone, Twins fan.

I became a fan of the Minnesota Twins after a friendly wager in the early 1980s. I survived Ron Davis, the meltdown in Cleveland, Phil Bradley at the Kingdome and then marveled at a rising generation of stars and two World Series wins in 1987 and 1991. Brad Radke made the 1990s bearable, while Kirby Puckett’s eye injury, exit from the game and eventual death made it almost too much to bear. The new century ushered in more talent — Joe Mauer, Johan Santana, Joe Nathan, Torii Hunter, Justin Morneau — and consecutive seasons of playoff baseball, followed by consecutive seasons of losing baseball. A winning season returned in 2015. So here we are. Go Twins.
