Royals sweep Twins to make July a huge disappointment

July was ripe for the taking. It was filled with winnable games against weak teams to help the Twins pad their thin lead in the AL Central, but after a series loss to the Seattle Mariners and a sweep at the hands of the lowly Kansas City Royals, the Twins find themselves right back where... Twins sweep A’s, but Oakland gives them all they could handle

The Twins got back on track with a second-half-starting sweep of the cellar dwelling Oakland A’s over the weekend, but the three wins did not come easy. In Game 1, they nearly beat themselves. In Game 2, they coughed up a huge lead and in Game 3, the Twins had to rally from a 3-0... Continue Reading »

O’s send Twins reeling with 15-2 rout and sweep at Target Field

The 2023 season came to an end on Sunday for the Minnesota Twins. Not literally, of course, but symbolically after the Twins were swept at home, finally losing in embarrassing fashion, 15-2. This may seem hard to believe, but the Twins actually scored the first run of the game and then watched as the Orioles... Continue Reading »

Gray has stinker of a game, Twins drop series to Baltimore

The clarion call to take advantage of a largely weak July schedule has apparently gone unheeded after the Twins lost the game and the series to the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday. Pitcher Sonny Gray had his first really bad start of the season, allowing six runs in the second inning, and the Twins offense once... Continue Reading »

Joey Gallo struck out with the bases loaded, Byron Buxton did the same and the Twins came up short on Sunday, losing the game 6-4 and the series to the Detroit Tigers. 2-game sweep means very little after Twins lose to lowly Tigers

Twins Territory was riding pretty high after the two-game sweep of the Milwaukee Brewers. And why not? Twins hitting seems to have picked up, Carlos Correa has been hot of late and even a recent MLB.com story took note of the improvement: ‘There’s a different vibe’ as Twins sweep Crew,’ the headline reads. And then... Continue Reading »

Twins lose, Luis Arraez has 5 hits, 5 RBI for Marlins

The Twins had a ho-hum day at Target Field on Saturday, finally losing 4-2 to the Cleveland Guardians. Twins finally score with the bases loaded, end series losing streak

The Twins leave Houston with a series win, punctuated by an 8-2 victory over the Astros on Wednesday that featured not one bases-loaded scoring moment, but two. And they were brought to you by first basemen “Donnie Barrels” Solano and catcher Ryan Jeffers, both of whom had two hits and drove in six of the... Continue Reading »

Youth movement gets Twins win that bullpen nearly blows

The kids were alright on Saturday as Eddie Julien, Matt Wallner and Alex Kirilloff accounted for nine of the Twins’ 14 hits, helping to power the club to a 9-7 win over the Toronto Blue Jays. One veteran, Willi Castro, did get into the act with a two home run day, but it was the... Continue Reading »

Hi, I’m Rolf Boone, Twins fan.

I became a fan of the Minnesota Twins after a friendly wager in the early 1980s. I survived Ron Davis, the meltdown in Cleveland, Phil Bradley at the Kingdome and then marveled at a rising generation of stars and two World Series wins in 1987 and 1991. Brad Radke made the 1990s bearable, while Kirby Puckett’s eye injury, exit from the game and eventual death made it almost too much to bear. The new century ushered in more talent — Joe Mauer, Johan Santana, Joe Nathan, Torii Hunter, Justin Morneau — and consecutive seasons of playoff baseball, followed by consecutive seasons of losing baseball. A winning season returned in 2015. So here we are. Go Twins.
