Twins finally score with the bases loaded, end series losing streak

The Twins leave Houston with a series win, punctuated by an 8-2 victory over the Astros on Wednesday that featured not one bases-loaded scoring moment, but two. And they were brought to you by first basemen “Donnie Barrels” Solano and catcher Ryan Jeffers, both of whom had two hits and drove in six of the... Continue Reading »

Twins drop series to Dodgers after bullpen collapses in 5-run 7th

The Twins fought hard against the Dodgers, losing a nailbiter 9-8 in extra innings and beating Clayton Kershaw for a 5-1 win, but finally they could not take the series after the Twins’ 3-2 lead in the top of the seventh inning Wednesday unraveled in the worst possible way for a 7-3 loss. A lot... Continue Reading »

At least the Twins have Jose De Leon, right?

What a week to be a Minnesota Twins fan. After it appeared the Twins might be on the verge of retaining Carlos Correa and adding San Francisco Giants pitcher Carlos Rodon, Correa exited stage left for a ridiculous amount of money to play for those Giants, while Rodon was snapped up by the team that... Farewell, Brian Dozier

The July 31 trade deadline has come and gone and the Twins have said goodbye to five players, including longtime second baseman, Brian Dozier, who was dealt to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday. Dozier, until Tuesday, had only known one team in his major league career: The Twins. He spent seven seasons with the... Continue Reading »

The day Brian Dozier didn’t face Jose De Leon

It must have been an unusual day at the ballpark for Twins second baseman Brian Dozier. He wasn’t in the lineup against the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday, but probably was in the dugout, sitting and wondering what might have been. That’s because the Twins faced Rays starter Jose De Leon. If that name sounds... Continue Reading »

If the Twins still want pitcher Jose De Leon, they’ll have to call the Rays

The Tampa Bay Rays on Monday traded a second baseman to the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for a top-ranked pitching prospect. If this deal sounds familiar that’s because the Twins had pursued something similar with the Dodgers. But it’s now clear that the Dodgers were only interested in a 1-for-1 swap for pitcher Jose... While we all wait for Brian Dozier to be traded (or not), a few thoughts about the weather

Well, I knew the offseason would be slow, but this slow? Wow. There’s no mistaking it: Baseball really is a summer sport. I think all of us Twins bloggers are waiting to pounce on the much talked about potential trade that would send second baseman Brian Dozier to some team (possibly the Los Angeles Dodgers)... Is Twins’ Dozier to Dodgers a done deal?

It appears Falvey & Co. may be on the verge of making their first big transaction of the off-season, sending Twins’ second baseman Brian Dozier to the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for highly rated pitching prospect Jose De Leon. There may be more players attached to this potential deal, but it seems to hinge... Continue Reading »

Hi, I’m Rolf Boone, Twins fan.

I became a fan of the Minnesota Twins after a friendly wager in the early 1980s. I survived Ron Davis, the meltdown in Cleveland, Phil Bradley at the Kingdome and then marveled at a rising generation of stars and two World Series wins in 1987 and 1991. Brad Radke made the 1990s bearable, while Kirby Puckett’s eye injury, exit from the game and eventual death made it almost too much to bear. The new century ushered in more talent — Joe Mauer, Johan Santana, Joe Nathan, Torii Hunter, Justin Morneau — and consecutive seasons of playoff baseball, followed by consecutive seasons of losing baseball. A winning season returned in 2015. So here we are. Go Twins.
