Here comes the rooster: Wallner walks it off, Twins sweep Snakes

Poring over the Twins’ August schedule, I saw nothing but foul weather in the form of teams such as the Texas Rangers and others that just might be too much for a club clinging to a slim lead in the American League Central division. But here we are, a few games into the new month,... Continue Reading »

Winning streak comes to an end as whiffs galore, bullpen sink Twins

The Twins’ four-game winning streak came to an end Tuesday as the offense went cold and the bullpen underwhelmed to hand the Seattle Mariners a 9-7 win. And although Michael A. Taylor hit a home run in the bottom of the ninth to make it interesting, there was no walk-off magic after back-to-back games of... Continue Reading »

O’s send Twins reeling with 15-2 rout and sweep at Target Field

The 2023 season came to an end on Sunday for the Minnesota Twins. Not literally, of course, but symbolically after the Twins were swept at home, finally losing in embarrassing fashion, 15-2. This may seem hard to believe, but the Twins actually scored the first run of the game and then watched as the Orioles... Continue Reading »

2-game sweep means very little after Twins lose to lowly Tigers

Twins Territory was riding pretty high after the two-game sweep of the Milwaukee Brewers. And why not? Twins hitting seems to have picked up, Carlos Correa has been hot of late and even a recent MLB.com story took note of the improvement: ‘There’s a different vibe’ as Twins sweep Crew,’ the headline reads. And then... Continue Reading »

Here comes the rooster: Lewis, Jeffers rally Twins to 7-5 win

Infielder Royce Lewis, the Twins’ No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 amateur draft and a player who has twice battled back from serious knee injuries, returned to the lineup on Monday and didn’t disappoint, hitting a three-run home run to start the scoring and a game-tying single to send the game to the 10th... The Twins appear to be in serious trouble, folks

The Twins lost their third straight series on Tuesday to the San Francisco Giants after a very promising 3-0 lead turned into a 4-3 disaster. The Twins are now a game over .500 (yet they still lead the incredibly weak AL Central) and 4-6 in their last 10 games. They are struggling to hit, to... Continue Reading »

Hi, I’m Rolf Boone, Twins fan.

I became a fan of the Minnesota Twins after a friendly wager in the early 1980s. I survived Ron Davis, the meltdown in Cleveland, Phil Bradley at the Kingdome and then marveled at a rising generation of stars and two World Series wins in 1987 and 1991. Brad Radke made the 1990s bearable, while Kirby Puckett’s eye injury, exit from the game and eventual death made it almost too much to bear. The new century ushered in more talent — Joe Mauer, Johan Santana, Joe Nathan, Torii Hunter, Justin Morneau — and consecutive seasons of playoff baseball, followed by consecutive seasons of losing baseball. A winning season returned in 2015. So here we are. Go Twins.
