Twins fall to earth after series split with Tigers

After a convincing sweep of the Toronto Blue Jays and another shutout in Game 1 of their series against the Detroit Tigers, it appeared the Twins were well on their way to a sweep, or at the very least, a series win over Motor City. But that was not to be. After the shutout, the... Continue Reading »

We hardly knew ye, Kennys Vargas

At one time, Kennys Vargas, who stands 6-foot-5 and weighs 290 pounds, appeared to be the slugger of the future for the Twins. We hardly knew ye, Ervin Santana

Let’s remember a time when the Twins crushed the Red Sox, Part 5

The Boston Red Sox have the lead in this year’s Fall Classic. If you’re tired of seeing the rich get richer, indulge me for a moment and let’s remember a time when a good Red Sox team had no answer for an up-and-coming Twins team. The year is 1990. The Twins won it all in... Continue Reading »

Hi, I’m Rolf Boone, Twins fan.

I became a fan of the Minnesota Twins after a friendly wager in the early 1980s. I survived Ron Davis, the meltdown in Cleveland, Phil Bradley at the Kingdome and then marveled at a rising generation of stars and two World Series wins in 1987 and 1991. Brad Radke made the 1990s bearable, while Kirby Puckett’s eye injury, exit from the game and eventual death made it almost too much to bear. The new century ushered in more talent — Joe Mauer, Johan Santana, Joe Nathan, Torii Hunter, Justin Morneau — and consecutive seasons of playoff baseball, followed by consecutive seasons of losing baseball. A winning season returned in 2015. So here we are. Go Twins.
