Will home cooking be the difference in August for the Twins?

The Twins dropped two of three games to the San Diego Padres and now come home, as many in Twins Territory have noted, to play 20 of 28 games at Target Field in August. But that might sound better than it actually looks, because although the Twins play the Detroit Tigers and Kansas City Royals... Continue Reading »

Twins take 2 from terrible Tigers

The Twins made quick work of the Detroit Tigers over the weekend, outscoring Motown 17-5 to sweep the short, two-game series. They are welcome wins and it appears the All-Star break did the Twins some good after their pre-break 11-0 letdown against the Chicago White Sox. Starter Joe Ryan won on Saturday, allowing one run... Twins drop finale to Orioles

Remember the back-to-back walk-off wins, Twins fans? The good vibrations created by those two late-inning victories quickly ebbed away on Sunday after the Twins mustered only four hits in a 3-1 loss to the Baltimore Orioles. Despite the loss, the Twins still won the series, although it’s pretty clear that when Byron Buxton gets a... Continue Reading »

Twins win back-to-back series, now head to Arizona

The Twins won their second consecutive series on Wednesday with a 5-0 win over the Seattle Mariners. The Twins won 3-2 on Monday, were blanked 5-0 on Tuesday and then returned the favor the following day. Twins ‘walk the plank,’ lose 10-4 to Yankees

The Twins walked the plank all night, said radio play-by-play man Cory Provus during Tuesday’s game against the New York Yankees, underscoring the nine base on balls issued by Twins pitching. And the Yanks took full advantage, racing out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, then tacked on five runs late for a... Continue Reading »

Roll on Twins, roll on

The Twins go for their second straight sweep on Wednesday after a 5-4 win over the Detroit Tigers on Monday and a 2-0 win on Tuesday. Gio Urshela drove in the first run, Carlos Correa the next and starter Sonny Gray and two relievers did the rest, blanking Motown on five hits. Gray was certainly... Continue Reading »

Lewis isn’t going to replace Carlos Correa just yet

Twins Territory wasn’t very happy overnight after we learned Royce Lewis had been sent to Triple-A St. Paul to make room for Carlos Correa and his return to the lineup after spending 10 days on the injured list. Correa certainly didn’t waste any time showing us that he is still the Big Man On Campus... Continue Reading »

Twins’ Polanco, pitching the difference in 1-0 win over A’s

Twins second baseman Jorge Polanco hit a solo home run and four pitchers made it stand for a 1-0 win over the Oakland A’s on Saturday. Starter Sonny Gray, fresh off the injured list, struck out seven over four innings and the bullpen was just as strong, including fireballer Jhoan Duran, who struck out five... Continue Reading »

It was a battle of sacrifice flies until it wasn’t

Does Kyle Garlick really need to pinch hit for Nick Gordon? OK, moving on…  Through seven innings of Sunday’s game between the Twins and Boston Red Sox, the Red Sox held a one-run lead. GET BAILEY OBER A FUCKING RUN OR TWO HOLY SHIT #MNTWINS — Minnesota Sports Fan (@realmnsportsfan) April 17, 2022 Twins starting... Continue Reading »

Hi, I’m Rolf Boone, Twins fan.

I became a fan of the Minnesota Twins after a friendly wager in the early 1980s. I survived Ron Davis, the meltdown in Cleveland, Phil Bradley at the Kingdome and then marveled at a rising generation of stars and two World Series wins in 1987 and 1991. Brad Radke made the 1990s bearable, while Kirby Puckett’s eye injury, exit from the game and eventual death made it almost too much to bear. The new century ushered in more talent — Joe Mauer, Johan Santana, Joe Nathan, Torii Hunter, Justin Morneau — and consecutive seasons of playoff baseball, followed by consecutive seasons of losing baseball. A winning season returned in 2015. So here we are. Go Twins.
