Will the real Taj Bradley please stand up?

There was no sweep of the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday — the Twins losing badly 8-0 — but more questions and concerns likely are being raised about starter Taj Bradley, the clear surprise of the 2026 season, after he turned in a second straight sub-par performance. He didn’t exactly get lit up by the... Continue Reading »

Furious rally falls short as Twins lose again

Bailey Ober and the Twins dug themselves a very early and deep hole on Saturday, but the American League’s third-best offense rallied to tie the game at 7-7, only to give up three more runs. They never fully recovered after that and fell 10-9 to the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Twins’ fourth straight loss. It’s also... Continue Reading »

For the Twins, a victory that doesn’t get much sweeter. Here’s why

Telling the schoolyard bully to shove it with a 4-2 win seems pretty sweet to me. And that’s exactly what happened to the Twins on Saturday as the “bully” emerged in the form of the Boston Red Sox’s Wilson Contreras. Wilson knocked over Kody Clemens with a head-first slide into first base, then appeared to... Continue Reading »

Guess what? The Twins have another 1-run win

I woke up Saturday morning and nearly spat out my coffee after I learned that Twins starting pitcher Taj Bradley — by far the team’s best pitcher in the early going — had landed on the 15-day injured list. All you can do is laugh is what I intended to write this evening because the... Continue Reading »

Best win of the season? Senators rout Nats 11-3

The original Washington Senators returned to their old stomping grounds on Tuesday and put it all together. They got a balanced attack from the lineup, starting pitcher Taj Bradley made another quality start and the Big Bopper, Byron Buxton, slammed a three-run homer to run away from the Washington Nationals 11-3. The Senators cranked out... Continue Reading »

Twins fans can see the problem. Can the owners?

If it remains unclear to the Pohlad family about what ails the team they own — the Minnesota Twins — then pull out a sheet of paper, pick out your favorite writing instrument and fire off a letter with your concerns. And make sure you underline the word “bullpen” with the darkest and blackest felt... Continue Reading »

Bullpen finally doesn’t self-destruct, Twins win 7-1

A wasted quality start on Tuesday was followed by a wasted quality start on Wednesday, but on Thursday Bailey Ober’s quality start finally did not go wanting as the Twins poured it on late and the bullpen held the line in the team’s 7-1 win over the Toronto Blue Jays. You read that correctly: the... Continue Reading »

The talent is there, the results are not

Once again the Twins find themselves with a three-game losing streak after they lost Game 1 to the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday, following two losses to the wealthy but underachieving New York Mets. Throughout it all the Twins have shown they have the talent to win more games and that the future remains bright,... Continue Reading »

It’s the bullpen, stupid

Despite the lack of clutch hitting and terrible defense, the bullpen remains the Twins’ biggest challenge, and again it wasn’t quite up to the task on Sunday as Minnesota was swept 7-4 by the Cincinnati Reds. What isn’t a problem for these Twins? Starting pitching. In the Reds series, Joe Ryan made a quality start,... Continue Reading »

Hi, I’m Rolf Boone, Twins fan.

I became a fan of the Minnesota Twins after a friendly wager in the early 1980s. I survived Ron Davis, the meltdown in Cleveland, Phil Bradley at the Kingdome and then marveled at a rising generation of stars and two World Series wins in 1987 and 1991. Brad Radke made the 1990s bearable, while Kirby Puckett’s eye injury, exit from the game and eventual death made it almost too much to bear. The new century ushered in more talent — Joe Mauer, Johan Santana, Joe Nathan, Torii Hunter, Justin Morneau — and consecutive seasons of playoff baseball, followed by consecutive seasons of losing baseball. A winning season returned in 2015. So here we are. Go Twins.
