Twins win again. Can they do it?

The Twins won again on Tuesday, getting a 3-1 victory at home over the never-easy-to-beat Cleveland Guardians. That’s three wins in a row for Minnesota. They also are 7-3 in their last three games, two games under .500, three games back in the AL Central division and 1.5 games back in the Wild Card hunt.... Continue Reading »

The Twins bullpen held on for a 2-1 win Saturday and then they did it all over again 5-4 on Sunday to give the team its first series win at Cleveland in nearly three years. The two teams were tied at 1-1 in the 3rd inning and then the Twins went to work in the... Continue Reading »

Same as it ever was: Twins walked off by Guards

The new-look Twins took the field on Friday against the Cleveland Guardians, but there was nothing new about the way they lost. For the third time this season — and the 11th time in the past five seasons — the Twins lost yet again in walk-off fashion 3-2 in 10 innings to the Guards. Joe... Continue Reading »

Burning down the house: Twins trade Correa, 9 others

The Twins were rumored to be sellers prior to the trade deadline, and I think many expected the club to deal a handful of players. But no one saw this coming. The Twins have said goodbye to 10 players, with most of the deals happening on Thursday, including the once untradeable Carlos Correa, who the... Continue Reading »

Twins walk-off winners after 90-minute rain delay

The Twins had to wait through a 90-minute, ninth-inning rain delay in their Game 1 matchup against the Boston Red Sox on Monday, but they finally emerged in the home half of the inning to load the bases, then Brooks Lee singled home two runs for the 5-4 walk-off win. The bigger news, of course,... Continue Reading »

Bottom of the order powers Twins to Game 3 win vs. Jays

The Twins salvaged the finale of their three-game set with the Toronto Blue Jays, getting key contributions from their No. 6 through No. 9 hitters in the lineup for a 6-3 win on Sunday. The Twins had 12 hits and Willi Castro, Ty France, Brooks Lee and Christian Vazquez had eight of them, including back-to-back... Continue Reading »

No rally needed as Twins rout A’s

The Twins scored six runs early and four runs late to run away from the West Sacramento A’s, or whatever you want to call them, by a score of 10-4 on Monday in Game 1 of the four-game series. Although nearly ever player in the lineup got into the act in this one, it was... Continue Reading »

Need a 9th inning rally? It was no problem for the Twins

The Twins may have dropped their second straight series on this 10-game road trip, but no one can say they didn’t try because they absolutely battled in the ninth inning and beyond against the M’s. The club rallied to tie the game in the ninth on Friday, then blew it open with six additional runs.... Continue Reading »

Hi, I’m Rolf Boone, Twins fan.

I became a fan of the Minnesota Twins after a friendly wager in the early 1980s. I survived Ron Davis, the meltdown in Cleveland, Phil Bradley at the Kingdome and then marveled at a rising generation of stars and two World Series wins in 1987 and 1991. Brad Radke made the 1990s bearable, while Kirby Puckett’s eye injury, exit from the game and eventual death made it almost too much to bear. The new century ushered in more talent — Joe Mauer, Johan Santana, Joe Nathan, Torii Hunter, Justin Morneau — and consecutive seasons of playoff baseball, followed by consecutive seasons of losing baseball. A winning season returned in 2015. So here we are. Go Twins.
