This Twins season can’t end soon enough

What a disappointment the 2026 Minnesota Twins season has been. The Twins on Thursday fell to 15-27 since July after they lost 5-4 in extra innings to the Los Angeles Angels in Game 1 of a new but likely disappointing series. Starter Taj Bradley served up three quick runs, but the Twins rallied with three... Continue Reading »

Remember the Twins’ walk-off win?

All the hope and joy created by Tuesday’s walk-off win over the Kansas City Royals vanished faster than you can say Royce Lewis after Byron Buxton landed on the injured list, Joe Ryan turned in another crummy start and worst of all, former Twins pitcher Randy Dobnak — the Dobber — who toiled for a... ‘Nothing comes easy for this Twins bullpen’

“Nothing comes easy for this Twins bullpen,” said Twins radio play-by-play man Kris Atteberry late in Monday’s Twins/Astros tilt in Houston. You can say that again. The Twins cruised into the eighth inning with a 5-1 lead, courtesy of three dingers and seven innings of strong starting pitching, and then the ball was handed off... Continue Reading »

Twins win big, rout Diamondbacks 16-8

Byron Buxton hit a grand slam in the Twins’ runaway win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday, but it was the bottom of the order that really put on a show. The six through nine hitters: Brooks Lee, Victor Caratini, Luke Keaschall and Ryan Kreidler were a combined  13-for-21 (.619) with 11 runs scored and... Continue Reading »

For the Twins, a victory that doesn’t get much sweeter. Here’s why

Telling the schoolyard bully to shove it with a 4-2 win seems pretty sweet to me. And that’s exactly what happened to the Twins on Saturday as the “bully” emerged in the form of the Boston Red Sox’s Wilson Contreras. Wilson knocked over Kody Clemens with a head-first slide into first base, then appeared to... Continue Reading »

Offense returns as Twins top Tigers. It was more interesting than it sounds

Despite another frigid night in downtown Minneapolis, the Twins’ offense finally warmed up and banged out 10 hits in a 7-3 win over the Detroit Tigers on Monday. Although a win, it’s not as convincing as it sounds because the Twins were 5-for-16 with runners in scoring position and stranded 11 on base, including multiple... Continue Reading »

Twins lose a mess of a game to Orioles, 8-6

The Sunday positives: Six runs on 12 hits, including extra-base hits from Josh Bell and Royce Lewis, as well as two hits apiece from Victor Caratini, Trevor Larnach and Tristan Gray. The Sunday negatives: Sub-par pitching, missed opportunities (10 left on base), lousy base-running and plenty of ABS-generated controversy which finally resulted in Twins Manager... Now, if the Twins could just bottle what happened on Monday

Forget the fire sale, forget the muted spending and forget the lack of high-profile free agents because if Monday’s win over the Pittsburgh Pirates is an indication of things to come, then this Twins team is going to be OK. They put it all together in the 5-1 victory. Starter Joe Ryan, taking the mound... Continue Reading »

We hardly knew ye, Derek Falvey

Days before spring training is supposed to begin — as noted by many across social media — the Twins have shockingly announced that the club and chief of baseball operations Derek Falvey, who was hired in 2016, have decided to go their separate ways. None of this is good, of course. This is the kind... Continue Reading »

Hi, I’m Rolf Boone, Twins fan.

I became a fan of the Minnesota Twins after a friendly wager in the early 1980s. I survived Ron Davis, the meltdown in Cleveland, Phil Bradley at the Kingdome and then marveled at a rising generation of stars and two World Series wins in 1987 and 1991. Brad Radke made the 1990s bearable, while Kirby Puckett’s eye injury, exit from the game and eventual death made it almost too much to bear. The new century ushered in more talent — Joe Mauer, Johan Santana, Joe Nathan, Torii Hunter, Justin Morneau — and consecutive seasons of playoff baseball, followed by consecutive seasons of losing baseball. A winning season returned in 2015. So here we are. Go Twins.
