The Twins made it three wins in a row against the Detroit Tigers on Saturday, the first three of eight straight games between the two teams. They fell behind by four runs early, then rallied to take the lead after three big innings. Alex Kirilloff hit a two-run home run, Jorge Polanco smashed a three-run... Continue Reading »

When it rains it pours, Twins fans. And once again the culprit was the offense, mustering only two runs on five hits:... Continue Reading »

Oh, the Twins have cast a few pebbles into the pond, but nothing that’s caused anything beyond a ripple. In Detroit and Chicago, both teams appear ready to ride a slow, but growing wave of potential success. For... Continue Reading »

Remember Sano’s pinch hit, walk-off home run, Twins fans?

It’s amazing how quickly things can go from good to bad in the game of baseball. On Monday, slugger Miguel Sano drilled a pitch into the night sky in the bottom of the ninth to beat the Atlanta Braves, 5-3. After a lackluster July, Monday’s win felt like the Twins had finally shaken off their... Continue Reading »

Hi, I’m Rolf Boone, Twins fan.

I became a fan of the Minnesota Twins after a friendly wager in the early 1980s. I survived Ron Davis, the meltdown in Cleveland, Phil Bradley at the Kingdome and then marveled at a rising generation of stars and two World Series wins in 1987 and 1991. Brad Radke made the 1990s bearable, while Kirby Puckett’s eye injury, exit from the game and eventual death made it almost too much to bear. The new century ushered in more talent — Joe Mauer, Johan Santana, Joe Nathan, Torii Hunter, Justin Morneau — and consecutive seasons of playoff baseball, followed by consecutive seasons of losing baseball. A winning season returned in 2015. So here we are. Go Twins.
