Larnach, Lopez lift Twins to 6-0 win over Cards

Oregon State man Trevor Larnach had the first multi-homer game of his young career and Pablo Lopez delivered seven shutout innings to win 6-0 and even the three-game series with the St. Louis Cardinals. In Friday’s Game 1 loss, the Twins couldn’t pitch or hit, but that was not the case on Saturday. Lopez struck... Continue Reading »

Twins pound Padres, move a game closer to Guards

The Twins shook off their three-game losing streak in a big way on Wednesday, unloading on San Diego Padres pitching with 18 hits for an 11-4 win to salvage the final game of the series. Padres knuckleballer Matt Waldron never knew what hit him, serving up 10 runs on 12 hits across four-plus innings. Rather... Continue Reading »

Losing streak grows to 3 games after late-inning heroics doom Twins

The Twins rallied, but the San Diego Padres rallied even harder on Tuesday to scoot past Minnesota for the 7-5 win and series win. The Cleveland Guardians outlasted the Yankees with a 6-run 12th inning the same day, but the Kansas City Royals lost, so the Twins and Royals remain tied at 70-56, 3.5 games... Continue Reading »

Twins have one of those nights, lose badly

You know it’s been a long night and lopsided game when Twins outfielder Matt Wallner makes arguably the best pitching appearance of the contest. Perhaps he wasn’t as good as reliever Cole Sands, but he certainly was in the running after the Twins were bombed 15-2 by the New York Mets on Monday. Starter Simeon... Continue Reading »

Twins trade blowouts with Tigers

The Twins rocked Motown on Friday 9-3 and then took one on the nose Saturday, losing 7-2. The bullpen again struggled. Joe Ryan made a quality start, despite the loss, and exited the game with the Twins down only by a run, 3-2. But relievers Brock Stewart and Seven Okert allowed four more runs and... Bullpen in focus as Twins take series from Phils

The Minnesota Twins bullpen was fine in Game 1, shouldered the entire loss in Game 2 and did just enough to limit the Philadelphia Phillies to four runs in the Twins’ 5-4 win on Wednesday, a win punctuated by a Max Kepler walk-off infield hit. They can’t all be dramatic home runs, right? Wednesday was... Continue Reading »

Twins split doubleheader, but still earn series win over White Sox

It wasn’t a sweep, but the Twins still picked up their sixth straight series win by taking two of three games from the woeful Chicago White Sox, the worst team in baseball. The Twins won the first game, the second game was postponed due to rain, and then the two teams regrouped Wednesday to play... Continue Reading »

Twins return home for 6-game homestand, get Game 1 win

Well, at least we know this much: the Twins can score a grand total of five runs and still win games. They did it twice against the Seattle Mariners, winning 5-1 and 5-3 over the weekend, and they did it once more Tuesday night in a 5-3 win versus the Detroit Tigers, the first of... Twins get series win, face Kryptonite Tuesday

It’s a good thing the Twins earned a series win over the Houston Astros on Sunday because there’s a better than average chance they are going to get swept in the Bronx when they start a three-game set Tuesday versus Gotham, also known as the New York Yankees. The Twins were swept at home by... Continue Reading »

Hi, I’m Rolf Boone, Twins fan.

I became a fan of the Minnesota Twins after a friendly wager in the early 1980s. I survived Ron Davis, the meltdown in Cleveland, Phil Bradley at the Kingdome and then marveled at a rising generation of stars and two World Series wins in 1987 and 1991. Brad Radke made the 1990s bearable, while Kirby Puckett’s eye injury, exit from the game and eventual death made it almost too much to bear. The new century ushered in more talent — Joe Mauer, Johan Santana, Joe Nathan, Torii Hunter, Justin Morneau — and consecutive seasons of playoff baseball, followed by consecutive seasons of losing baseball. A winning season returned in 2015. So here we are. Go Twins.
