Whaddya know? That’s 2 Twins wins

The Twins won the finale over the Cleveland Guardians and they did it again Tuesday with a 4-1 win on the road against the Texas Rangers. Starting pitching Daniel Zebulon Matthews bounced back in a huge way after he had a terrible outing against the New York Yankees. Zebby allowed just a run, a first-inning... Continue Reading »

Ho-hum. Twins trade wins with Nats

The Twins scored a rare 1-0 win over the Washington Nationals on Friday, then gave it all back in the form of a 9-3 loss on Saturday. The result is that the Twins are again four games under .500, which is… which is… which is what exactly? They aren’t completely terrible like the White Sox... Continue Reading »

2 straight series wins and a Game 1 victory over the Bucs. Not bad, Minnesota

The Twins aren’t out of this thing just yet. Check the ledger: Back to back series wins over the Rays and Cubs and a Game 1 win over the Pirates. In fact, the Twins should sweep the Bucs and the terrible Rockies on the other side of the All-Star break to make it a six-game... Continue Reading »

Big win: Twins take Game 1 from one of the best teams in baseball

Someone once said that baseball success begins with the guy on the mound. Not sure that’s entirely true (or if it was ever said), but for the moment it appears to stick because after the Twins suffered their way through most of June, they suddenly find themselves with a three-game winning streak. And look how... Continue Reading »

Twins blown out again. When will it stop?

The Twins have been outscored 46-16 over their last four games — all losses, of course — including Monday’s 11-2 defeat to the M’s in Game 1 of a four-game series. The problem begins with starting pitching. With Pablo Lopez and Daniel Zebulon Matthews sidelined by injuries, the Twins have had to rely on a... Continue Reading »

There it is: Twins fall below .500 with 6th straight loss

The bad news rolls on for the Twins as they lost their sixth straight game on Wednesday, a ridiculous, rain-shortened affair won by the Cincinnati Reds, 4-2. Why ridiculous? The actual time of the game was just a hair over 90 minutes, while the rain delays totaled three hours. The game was finally called in... Continue Reading »

Have a little faith, right?

A day after lamenting the state of the Twins rotation, particularly young hurlers Simeon Woods Richardson and David Festa, the Slim Reaper went out and proved me wrong, making a quality start against the team that bombed the Twins on Tuesday, 16-4. But on Wednesday, Festa scattered three hits against the Texas Rangers, allowing just... Continue Reading »

Twins crushed by Texas. We have a problem, Houston

Twins pitching had no answer for the Texas Rangers on Tuesday, the team losing badly, 16-4, at home. Making matters worse is that ex-Twin, Tyler Mahle, who, I feel, never had any interest in playing in Minnesota, picked up the win to improve to 6-3 on the season with a 2.34 ERA. But here’s the... Bottom of the order powers Twins to Game 3 win vs. Jays

The Twins salvaged the finale of their three-game set with the Toronto Blue Jays, getting key contributions from their No. 6 through No. 9 hitters in the lineup for a 6-3 win on Sunday. The Twins had 12 hits and Willi Castro, Ty France, Brooks Lee and Christian Vazquez had eight of them, including back-to-back... Continue Reading »

Hi, I’m Rolf Boone, Twins fan.

I became a fan of the Minnesota Twins after a friendly wager in the early 1980s. I survived Ron Davis, the meltdown in Cleveland, Phil Bradley at the Kingdome and then marveled at a rising generation of stars and two World Series wins in 1987 and 1991. Brad Radke made the 1990s bearable, while Kirby Puckett’s eye injury, exit from the game and eventual death made it almost too much to bear. The new century ushered in more talent — Joe Mauer, Johan Santana, Joe Nathan, Torii Hunter, Justin Morneau — and consecutive seasons of playoff baseball, followed by consecutive seasons of losing baseball. A winning season returned in 2015. So here we are. Go Twins.
