Burning down the house: Twins trade Correa, 9 others

The Twins were rumored to be sellers prior to the trade deadline, and I think many expected the club to deal a handful of players. But no one saw this coming. The Twins have said goodbye to 10 players, with most of the deals happening on Thursday, including the once untradeable Carlos Correa, who the... Continue Reading »

Twins walk-off winners after 90-minute rain delay

The Twins had to wait through a 90-minute, ninth-inning rain delay in their Game 1 matchup against the Boston Red Sox on Monday, but they finally emerged in the home half of the inning to load the bases, then Brooks Lee singled home two runs for the 5-4 walk-off win. The bigger news, of course,... Continue Reading »

There it is: Twins fall below .500 with 6th straight loss

The bad news rolls on for the Twins as they lost their sixth straight game on Wednesday, a ridiculous, rain-shortened affair won by the Cincinnati Reds, 4-2. Why ridiculous? The actual time of the game was just a hair over 90 minutes, while the rain delays totaled three hours. The game was finally called in... Continue Reading »

Does Thursday’s blowout loss spell trouble for the Twins?

First, the positives: The Twins took three of four games from the West Sacramento A’s, or whatever you want to call them, beating them 10-4, 10-3 and 6-1 before the A’s had had enough and responded with a 14-3 blowout win over the team from Minnesota on Thursday. So how much trouble does this spell... Continue Reading »

Best win of the season! Here’s how the Twins did it

It appeared the Twins were on the verge of a blowout loss to the M’s Friday night after they served up four runs in the first frame. But they chipped away at the lead to make it 4-3, fell behind again 6-3, and then pulled off a miracle, scoring three runs off one of the... Continue Reading »

Any time Buxton and Wallner want to rejoin the Twins is fine with me

It’s clear the Twins could use a little offense — the kind provided by injured players such as Byron Buxton and Matt Wallner — because the club has a grand total of eight hits over two games, both losses. They had all of three hits in Sunday’s loss to the Royals and five more in... Continue Reading »

Have the Twins seen their September schedule? Keep winning, Minnesota

The good news is that the Twins keep on winning. They won in walk-off fashion on Friday and they did it all over again on Saturday, scoring a 5-4 win over the Kansas City Royals. The Twins go for the three-game sweep on Sunday. There’s still a lot of baseball to be played before the... Continue Reading »

Another 12-game winning streak is in the books after Twins blank Brewers

The Twins have done it again, making it back-to-back 12-game winning streaks in 2024 and 2025. The current streak: Two wins over Boston, three-game sweeps against the Baltimore Orioles, San Francisco Giants and O’s, followed by a Game 1 win versus the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday night. Again, the Twins did just enough with the... Continue Reading »

They can’t be stopped: Twins’ win streak grows to 10 games

Talk about a carbon copy of last season. The Twins got off to a slow start in 2024 and then reeled off 12 straight wins. And now they’ve done it again. The Twins had a terrible April and yet it’s 10 wins in a row after a double-header sweep of the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday.... Continue Reading »

Hi, I’m Rolf Boone, Twins fan.

I became a fan of the Minnesota Twins after a friendly wager in the early 1980s. I survived Ron Davis, the meltdown in Cleveland, Phil Bradley at the Kingdome and then marveled at a rising generation of stars and two World Series wins in 1987 and 1991. Brad Radke made the 1990s bearable, while Kirby Puckett’s eye injury, exit from the game and eventual death made it almost too much to bear. The new century ushered in more talent — Joe Mauer, Johan Santana, Joe Nathan, Torii Hunter, Justin Morneau — and consecutive seasons of playoff baseball, followed by consecutive seasons of losing baseball. A winning season returned in 2015. So here we are. Go Twins.
