Every team that was in contention for the second wild card spot in the American League has been eliminated, except for the Los... Continue Reading »

Twins split 4-game series with Royals after Sunday stinker

The good news: The Twins are done playing the Kansas City Royals in 2017. The bad news: The Twins couldn’t win the series after nothing went right for them Sunday in an 11-3 loss. The ageless one, Bartolo Colon, showed his age Sunday after he gave up six runs in one-plus innings of work, or... Continue Reading »

Show a little more patience at the plate, Eddie Rosario

Once again Eddie Rosario stepped up to the plate in a key situation for the Twins, and once again he was first-pitch swinging. The result? Twins win 6 straight to retake second place in AL Central

The Twins’ longest winning streak of the season has come at the right time. The win streak has lifted the team into second place in the American League Central.... Continue Reading »

Ho-hum: Twins split 4-game series with Rangers

It wasn’t a sweep and it wasn’t a series win, it was merely a four-game split with the Texas Rangers. That’s good enough for the Twins to keep their heads above water, but not good enough for the club to gain any ground on the Cleveland Indians. But at least they won on Sunday and... Was that it for Bartolo Colon and the Twins?

Bartolo Colon’s second appearance for the Twins looked a lot like his first outing. He gave the Twins a few innings, surrendered eight hits, including two home runs, but didn’t walk anyone and struck out two. This time, however, he didn’t figure in Monday’s decision. But reliever Taylor Rogers did after he served up a... Continue Reading »

Hi, I’m Rolf Boone, Twins fan.

I became a fan of the Minnesota Twins after a friendly wager in the early 1980s. I survived Ron Davis, the meltdown in Cleveland, Phil Bradley at the Kingdome and then marveled at a rising generation of stars and two World Series wins in 1987 and 1991. Brad Radke made the 1990s bearable, while Kirby Puckett’s eye injury, exit from the game and eventual death made it almost too much to bear. The new century ushered in more talent — Joe Mauer, Johan Santana, Joe Nathan, Torii Hunter, Justin Morneau — and consecutive seasons of playoff baseball, followed by consecutive seasons of losing baseball. A winning season returned in 2015. So here we are. Go Twins.
